Recurring payments for your online store
Recurring charges on the customer’s card are what makes a product subscription possible at all. Here is how they work in Ukraine, and what a store needs to launch them without building it in-house.

What recurring payments are
A recurring payment is a charge to the customer’s card that happens automatically and on a schedule, without them re-entering their details each time. The customer approves the first payment and consents to the repeats; after that the money is taken on its own — weekly, monthly or at any other interval.
For an online store this is the foundation of the subscription model. A one-off purchase needs the customer to remember the product, visit the site and go through checkout. A recurring charge removes all three steps — and with them most of the drop-off on repeat sales.
How it works technically
The four steps behind every recurring charge
First payment and tokenisation
The customer pays as usual and consents to recurring charges. The payment provider hands the store a token — an anonymised reference to the card. The card details themselves never reach your store and are never stored there.
The schedule for the next charges
The store keeps the token alongside the subscription frequency and the next payment date. When that date arrives the payment is initiated with the token — the customer is no longer involved.
Retries when a charge fails
Insufficient funds, an expired card, a bank limit — these are a normal part of running subscriptions. The charge has to be retried a few days later and the customer told to update their card, rather than the subscription being cancelled on the first failure.
Changes and cancellation by the customer
The customer must be able to see their subscriptions and manage them at any moment: pause, skip a single delivery, change the frequency or cancel. That is not merely a convenience — payment providers require it of the subscription model.
LiqPay and Plata by Mono
Both Ukrainian providers support recurring charges, and Neocarts works with either. The money goes straight to your account — we are not an intermediary in the payment.
Plata by Mono (MonoPay)
Acquiring by monobank. Card tokenisation, recurring charges and quick onboarding for sole traders and companies alike.
LiqPay
Acquiring by PrivatBank. Supports subscriptions and recurring charges on your own schedule, with thorough API documentation.
Other providers — via the API
Already working with someone else? Connect them through our API: Neocarts owns the schedule and the state of the subscription, while the charge itself runs wherever suits you.
Why not to build this yourself
The first charge is easy. Everything after it is not
Retry logic
How many times to retry, at what intervals, when to stop and what to tell the customer — this alone decides how many subscriptions you lose to technical declines.
The buyer’s dashboard
Pause, skip, change frequency, update the card, track the shipment. Without it every change becomes a support ticket.
Orders and delivery
A successful charge has to become an order in your dashboard and a waybill with Nova Poshta. That is a separate integration, and not just one.
All of it already built
Neocarts gives you the widget, the buyer and merchant dashboards, the charge schedule and the retries. You pay 5% of successful transactions — and nothing else.
